Bathtime Nuances

OVERHEARD:
1st Person: “If climate change is nature getting its own back for
all the damage we’ve done, we probably deserve it, but Heaven help us all.”
2nd Person: Nature is no fool nor is God. If we’re being taught a lesson, let’s hope we learn it in good time or it won’t be us having the last laugh...”
BATHTIME NUANCES
Lying
back in a bath,
engaging
with times past,
you-me-us
battling
less trouble and strife
and
no coronavirus
threatening
us at every turn,
our
quality of life
a
slippery slope for sliding down,
climbing
up, falling again
Engaging
with the heat
of
a kinder personal space,
you-me-us
dreaming
of spreading wings,
visiting
such islands
as
set apart from worldly ways
while
joining up any dots
best
placed to keep up appearances
embracing
love and kindness
Bath
water cooling down,
time
to get busy with the task
of scrubbing clean
a
mind-body-spirit disillusioned
by
a world anxious
to
interpret information data
in
such ways as furthering
such
political agendas as win elections,
least
offend its religions
A
window left partly open
lends
me glimpses of a leafy patch
of
blue sky under siege
by
weepy clouds, till old Apollo
effects
a timely rescue
reminding
me (as I grab a towel)
of
such life and light
as
nature duly inspires mind-body-spirit
lest
it should ever forget
Refreshed
and ready to take on a new day,
a
hopeful heart, come what may
